ANTHONY CLARK and Donna Kellogg booked their place in the Yonex All England semi-finals at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham tonight with a thrilling three-game win over Korean pair Hwang Ji Man and Jung Youn-Kyung.
The new English National champions won 21-17 22-24 21-14 to earn a semi-final clash with second seeds Xie Xongbo and Zhang Yawen.
It was a battling display by the world silver medallists and Clark, who had earlier in the day received the Player of the Year award at the 25th Badminton Writers' Association annual lunch, celebrated victory by hurling his racket high in the air.
But there was disappointment earlier in the evening when world and Commonwealth champions Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms went out 21-17 22-24 21-14 against their great rival Gao Ling and her new partner Zheng Bo.
Robertson will now undergo surgery on an elbow problem on Wednesday but insists that after a break he will be back to challenge for the world championships in the summer. (badmintonengland.co.uk)
